Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States in my 14th cousin 2x removed. The ancestor who connect us together is Ralph De Neville Sir, of Raby, Earl of Westmorland (1364 – 1425), my 13th great grandfather.

Franklin Pierce was born on November 23, 1804 and died on October 8, 1869. He was the 14th president of the United States (1853–1857), a northern Democrat who viewed the abolitionist movement as a underlying danger to the integrity of the country. He alienated anti-slavery groups simply by championing and finalizing the Kansas–Nebraska Act and implementing the Fugitive Slave Act, however he was unsuccessful to stem dispute between North and South, setting the stage for Southern separation and the American Civil War.
