David Hawkins Stern “Davy” Crockett, 4th cousin 8x removed

Davy Crockett born on August 17, 1786  in Limestone, TN and died on March 6, 1836 in the Alamo, San Antonio, TX. He is my 4th cousin 8x removed. The ancestor who connects us together is Benjamin Harrison III.

David Crockett was an American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier, and politician. He is commonly referred to in popular culture by the epithet “King for the Wild Frontier”. He represented Tennessee within the U.S. House of Representatives and served within the Texas Revolution.

  1. Davy Stern Crockett is my 7th removed Uncle. I researched in France years ago, and found that my 7th removed Grandfather was Antoine de Crocetagne, and brother Gabriel who is Davy’s line. They came from a salt trading background. Their Mother was Louise Dessaseure de Sussex not of Jewish roots. The parents got the two boys out of France due to religious prosecution. They stayed together with their own families in the southeast. What I don’t understand especially with my line, how the males managed not to assimilate into Christianity. They married Christian women instead. It took 5 generations for my Grandfather as indicated in his obituary to convert to Christianity in his old age. I am proud of my Jewish background, but it has been run along a male lineage. I don’t see how it could have been done differently in the frontier.
